Robin Williams Live, And Energized

This may not actually look like Robin Williams, it's a first attempt.  It's also a caricature of him.  Williams was like the Jimi Hendrix of comedy, very animated full of energy.  His routine was very manic.  He admitted he suffered from Bi-polar.  I wanted to capture that part of him, because I think that's part of his portrait.  He actually did wear black t-shirts in his act. 


I just casually drew from copyright photos, his features, like the way his hair his parted, or his high forehead, his mouth, I drew from photos.  The hair and eyes, I tried doing that on my own.  There is no copyrighted picture of him like this.  I wasn't going for an exact traditional portrait. I am inspired by Abstract Expressionist painter Elaine de Kooning's portraits of John F. Kennedy, and, one in particular is more about qualities, like youth, and charisma, rather than an actual portrait, in the traditional sense.
