Congressman John Lewis

This Congressman John Lewis. Aside from being a Congressman, in his youth, Lewis was a Freedom Rider who got beaten on a Greyhound Bus. His speech was how he took up action to test the transportation system, which at the time was segregated. As a disabled American, I am forever in his debt because I take public transportation, and it's not federal that all persons with disabilities and the elderly, get the front section of the bus. He was also a speaker at the original March On Washington, and again found his life in danger when he and others tried walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in 1965, which became known as Bloody Sunday. The events on the bridge spurned action into making the Voting Rights Act of 1965, law.
